How to run RTWysiwyg extension not in demo mode?

abtv
I need a realtime collaboration editor for xwiki (it will be used as collaboration tool for people who edit the same document at the same time). I integrate xwiki with my app. I checked http://realtime.webviewers.org/xwiki/bin/view/Demos/RTAdvancedWysiwyg it works nice and I would like to implement it without demo mode but I don't know how.

There is the following code:
{{velocity output=\"none\"}}
$xwiki.jsx.use(\"RTWysiwyg.WebHome\", {\"demoMode\":true})
I tried to change demoMode parameter, but I don't know how to persist data. Could you give any useful link how to use the extension in real app?

Thanks in advance!

The code on realtime.webviewers.org is based on version 1.3 of
http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/RtWysiwyg

Note that it's 1.3 and not the latest version 1.5, 1.5 relies
on the XWiki CKEditor plugin.

Thanks,
Caleb

Re: How to run RTWysiwyg extension not in demo mode?

I see. I just checked if it works. I use version 1.4 and it works only in demo mode. I can't find out how to run it in production mode (with ability to save pages). Could you help with it, please? Or I should wait until 1.5 version will be available? I would like  to put at least previous version in production.

Re: How to run RTWysiwyg extension not in demo mode?

Caleb James DeLisle-3
Perhaps you would like to try updating to the most recent version which uses
XWiki CKEditor, when you use this version you should have realtime whenever
you select the "CKEditor" option for editing a page.

As you know from the page though, both XWiki/CKEditor and XWiki Realtime
WYSIWYG are experimental technologies, your help with reporting bugs is most
appreciated.

Thanks,
Caleb

Hello,

I'm the developer that is currently working on this extension. I expect
to push a version 1.6 tonight which will address some issues we found
after testing in more environments.

It's still quite experimental, but it should be suitable for users to at
least try.

Re: How to run RTWysiwyg extension not in demo mode?

abtv
There is the following in content of WYSIWYG page:

<div id="xwikieditcontent">
  <textarea id="realtime_wysiwyg_demo" style="height:385px; width:100%;" cols="0" rows="0">

  </textarea>
</div>

I see id="realtime_wysiwyg_demo" and I wonder if the extension can save and load content. Is it possible or it's just demo which allows to edit only current content without persistance? I don't see any js code for saving/loading data (but there are css styles and js code for demo purposes). Could you help me with this?

Re: How to run RTWysiwyg extension not in demo mode?

Ludovic Dubost
Hi,

If you want to test the RTWysiwyg Editor, what you should do is install the
RTWysiwyg Extension from the "Extension Manager" in your wiki. This should
also pull the CKEditor extension in version 1.3.
Once you have it installed you should be able to edit a document using the
CKEditor from the Edit Menu drop down (you need to have Advanced mode
activated).

We are still working both on CKEditor and on realtime so there might be
bugs. You can report them at https://jira.xwiki.org/browse/RTWYSIWYG

With that you will get edit and save, but not with the demo from webviewers.

I hope this helps.

Re: How to run RTWysiwyg extension not in demo mode?

abtv
It doesn't work for me: I open two browsers with 2 different users and open page with CKEditor. When I try to change the page by the first user I receive `The realtime session produced a document that could not be rendered locally` error in another browser for the second user. What can be a source of the problem?

Hi,

Could you tell us which version of CKEditor + Realtime you currently have
installed in your wiki and post the URL you have open on each computer + a
screenshot so that we can verify that you are in a right place

Re: How to run RTWysiwyg extension not in demo mode?

Ludovic Dubost
So Aaron would have to look at this..Maybe it's a issue specific to the
Russian setup.
Have you tried with your wiki set in English and typing only english
characters ?

You can report bugs here:
https://jira.xwiki.org/browse/RTWYSIWYG

What would help is what exact steps you used and what content you have at
the beginning in your document and what you typed.

Re: How to run RTWysiwyg extension not in demo mode?

abtv
It's very easy to reproduce. I just downloaded standalone xwiki 8.0 from the link http://download.forge.ow2.org/xwiki/xwiki-enterprise-jetty-hsqldb-8.0.zip and installed rtwysiwyg extension via extension manager. Then created a page http://localhost:8080/xwiki/bin/view/Default/ , then created the second user, opened in another browser the same page and received the same error about rendering.

Can you check it on a 7.x version and report in a bug what you see in the
js console

Can you verify if you get the same error if you click inside the editing
zone of both editors before trying to send text from one of them

I received this error immediately after I choose `CKEditor` edit option. I haven't entered any text yet. Did you ask about this?

This problem takes place in both localized and non-localized setups.

Hi,

We've managed to reproduce the issue. Apparently 1.8 and 1.9 have a bad
issue that breaks the editing quite fast.
You can try 1.7 which is more stable (still has some known issues on
complex simultaneous changes though).

To install and older version go to "List stable versions" under
"Description" in the extension manager entry.

Unfortunately, I have the same problem with 1.7 under xwiki 7.4.2 (Jetty + hsqldb):

CKEditor detected, loading realtime WYSIWYG code...
realtime-wysiwyg.js?cb=1459352454915:72 Creating realtime toggle
realtime-cleartext.js?cb=1459352454915:40 started
chainpad.js?cb=1459352454914:569 [xwiki:XWiki.Admin-Administrator%2d9873211570186842]  registered
realtime-wysiwyg.js?cb=1459352454915:183 Realtime is ready!
realtime-wysiwyg.js?cb=1459352454915:195 Readying new document
cursor.js?cb=1459352454915:10 [cursor.update] no ranges found
VM3618:1 Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected end of input

Maybe problem not in RTWysiwyg, but in its dependencies?

By the way, I'm understand it's bug in opensource project, but when I can expect rtwysiwyg developer fix the problem? I use xwiki and I need to provide some solution for collaboration or make some estimations. I checked the link http://realtime.webviewers.org/xwiki/bin/view/Demos/RTSimpleWysiwyg and these versions works pretty stable. It was almost 2 years ago, maybe I can use old versions? With old editor/dependencies?
