Install Guide HSQLDB

Enrique Ferreyra
Hi people, im trying to put online a xwiki with TOMCAT and HSQLDB, but i cant do it...
I guess is i have not correctly set the HSQLDB ...

There is some (better) guide to install xwiki with hsqldb, and a SQL script for this database ?

Im starting with HSQLDB, i want the data be in persistent files, i hope to migrate all to a Informix DB, but im waiting to get informix 9 since the 7 version only accept 18 chars in tables names and doesnt have CLOBs.

Please some help with setting up de HSQLDB and xwiki :)

Also i understand there is no spanish translation, if i can start working maybe i can help with this.

Re: Install Guide HSQLDB

Enrique Ferreyra
Ok, because i dont receive any help with the HSQLDB, i install a
postgreSQL and install with the db dump available on the web...

Now i have a problem, when i edit some of the pages from the preloaded
data, the welcome pago for example, after save i see my changes ok, but
when i enter for edit again the same page the changes are missing and
the page is again as it comes with the db.

Example:

<div class="left" style="width: 150px">
#set($mdoc = $xwiki.getDocument("XWiki.Menu"))
1.1 Welcome <a href="$mdoc.getURL("edit")"><img
src="$xwiki.getSkinFile("editPage.gif")" border="0" alt="Edit Menu" /></a>

Edit this to:

<div class="left" style="width: 150px">
#set($mdoc = $xwiki.getDocument("XWiki.Menu"))
1.1 BIENVENIDOS!! <a href="$mdoc.getURL("edit")"><img
src="$xwiki.getSkinFile("editPage.gif")" border="0" alt="Edit Menu" /></a>

Save and ok, the page change.

Enter again to edit, and get this :

<div class="left" style="width: 150px">
#set($mdoc = $xwiki.getDocument("XWiki.Menu"))
1.1 Welcome <a href="$mdoc.getURL("edit")"><img
src="$xwiki.getSkinFile("editPage.gif")" border="0" alt="Edit Menu" /></a>

Some idea why?!?!?

Re: Install Guide HSQLDB

There is a bug with the mono-lingual mode of XWiki with browsers of a
different language as the wiki. Turn on the multi lingual mode in the
XWiki preferences.
This will be fixed in the next version

Re: Install Guide HSQLDB

In reply to this post by Enrique Ferreyra

Hi,

To get XWiki in HSQLDB you can:

1/ Either use the Alpha version of XWiki available on the objectweb
forge xwiki download page which uses Jetty + HSQLDB
2/ Either import the default database from XML using the import/export
scripts.

Language

Enrique Ferreyra
In reply to this post by Ludovic Dubost
Hi.

    I have setting for language in multilingual, laguage = es dafault = es

    In my Main.Webhome at the upright there is a label language:
_default_  _es
_
    If i click on defaul appears a page, and if i click es appears other
(the firs is a legacy page from the example db)

    Other pages only shows es or en

    How it works, how can i get only 1 set of pages whitout change the
multilingual mode (see thread  Install Guide HSQLDB)

Thanks !!

If you are in a nearly empty wiki, try to delete all pages. And restart editing.

if you already have some some data in the wiki, try go back to en
default language.

I'm not sure of this, but i think it will work.

Re: Language

Enrique Ferreyra
Ok, thanks. I think the clean solution is when the bug be fixed, and i
can put multilingual off with spanish language.
Until then im working with multilingual off in english, but the pages i
wrote arein spanish, hope dont be difficult to migrate when new release
come.

Anyway i would like an explanation how laguage works, there is a
different page (with same name) for each language ? or something like that ?
How works the entry for language in the page's editor ?
What if i left blank in there?

Other thing please, there is some doc or reference about valid format
dates for the xwiki.formatDate funcion ?

Thanks !!!!

it's not exactly another page. You have the main page in the main
language, and another page attached to the first one with the other
language.

I think Ludovic can explain it better then me because I never touch this code.

the default format is  :
defaultFormat = "yyyy/MM/dd HH:mm";
we use SimpleDateFormat
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/text/SimpleDateFormat.html

if you want more infos, take a look at the class com.xpn.xwiki.XWiki
the function :
formatDate(Date date, String format, XWikiContext context)

Sorry i can't send you the link, the view svn seem to be down :
