Issues with building and running with eclipse

gchoudha

Hi,

I was trying to refer the steps provided for “building and running with Eclipse”.

The link is

http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/DevGuide/Dev+Environment

The steps I performed were:

1)       Created a new java project from Existing Ant build file.

2)       Downloaded the WTP plug-in for eclipse and placed in appropriate folder

3)       Downloaded eclipse plug-in for tomcat so that I can start and stop the apache server.

4)       Configured for Apache in elipse by windows->preferences->server->installed Runtimes

5)       Placed the dotfiles in xwiki folder.(my workspace)

6)       release(default) build is successful.

7)        When I try to run on debug on server it says “Selection did not contain anything that can be run on the server”

Please let me know where I am going wrong. I really need it to get going.

Thanks,

Gyanesh

Re: Issues with building and running with eclipse

Ludovic Dubost

Hi,

There is already an eclipse project file in the SVN code.
However since we are making modifications to the code organization it
might lag a little behind to be functionnal
This is something we are working to fix.

Yes that will work fine. The only thing it won't do for now is generate anything to execute xwiki from within eclipse. But at least it'll provide a working eclipse project.

Gyanesh, we're currently migrating to Maven2. I'm the one working on the migration. Let me know if you have any specific question. My next steps will be to document this once it's stabilized and review the existing web site documentation.

Thanks

RE: Issues with building and running with eclipse

gchoudha
Thanks. I am able to build. When I place my generated war files in webapps directory in tomcat, it works. The problem that I am facing is to debug/run from eclipse. I want to make modifications in the eclipse code but in order to do that; I need to debug the code to get the hang of flow. This is where I am not able to proceed.

Thanks,
Gyanesh
